Re: Foreskin: To Keep or Not to Keep

My son is not circumcised, however he has already had 3 cases of balanitis in the last 6 months. He just had surgery last week to remove a cyst on his penis which may be a cause of the bouts of the infections. We shall see. The doctor said that it is more than likely he may have to be circumcised if he keeps having recurring infections. The doctor also said that our son was a very rare case. That he never sees balanitis so, I am not sure what to think!

This would be very sad for us as we want our child to decide whether or not to circumcise his own body. We have a dear close friend who chose at age 9 to be circumcised. He couldn't be happier! Our doctor said, gettig circumcised at an older age is actually wiser than circumcising an infant due to the recovery period and the fact that anethsia is actually used rather than just numbing.
