Unhappy Anyone's child ever had hand, foot and mouth disease?

We just found out that our poor little man has this

It's nothing too serious fortunately, it's a virus so there's nothing that can be done for it until it goes away on it's own.

He has a rash on the back of his hands/forearms and on his lower legs/feet, and he has some little canker type sore in his mouth!
I thought he was teething again and that his mouth was sore because of that, since he was drooling so much and not wanting to eat much, WRONG!

Has anyone else's little ones ever had this? What was your experience with it?
TIA!

We've had it, it wasn't too bad if I remember right. My oldest was miserable when he had it but I think that was because he also had a double ear infection and his sucking thumb had a big sore on it, poor kid.

We had a room of 1 year olds with it when I worked in a daycare. Some had barely any signs, some were out with high fevers and painful blisters for a week. Hopefully you're little one will be on the easy end of it. Most kids have an easier time than a hard time. Our of 12 kids, only 2 had very severe cases.

We don't vaccinate, we kept our sons intact, we use cloth diapers, we co-sleep, we extended RF, we breastfeed, but we watch too much tv and I totally dig plastic! Everyone has their issues, lol.

Thanks, I hope he's one of the less affected ones too
He doesn't have a fever, and is still is a fairly good mood considering, it's just his poor little mouth that seems to bug him the most

K got it when he was nine months old. Luckily he didn't have it too bad. It can get really bad in their mouth. He was on an antibiotic. I do remember that the final stage is diarrhea. That is how it gets all out of their system. I believe that it smelled pretty bad too.

I can't remember which trimester but it isn't "safe" for a pregnant mama to be exposed to it at a certain time. Haley got a very mild case when I was pregnant with Haven but not during that critical time. I believe it is in the Baby Book by Dr. Sears that I remember reading this.

Yes, I spoke to my midwives first thing this morning since I was worried about it being a concern for my pregnancy.

I have to get a blood test taken to see if I'm immune to it or not, since many people were exposed to it as children and already have the antibodies for it.
I certainly hope so!!! Yikes!

Yes, Sammie had a mild case a couple of weeks ago. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/8/T082600.asp For her, she just had a fever and rash on her feet and hands. I gave her Acetaminophen and ibuprofen as needed.

Alexis had some mouth sores and I did the Mylanta/benadryl. It helped her to be able to eat.

I am also Pg. I did not worry about it. I work with kids, so I am always being exposed to something.
