I don't want to be an all-night buffet anymore. :(
First of all, I cosleep b/c I have to, not b/c I like it.
Our house is 2 bedrooms so DD's crib is in our room so she doesn't wake DS. Because she's in our room she hears us, I hear her every move, and she ends up in our bed most of the night anyway. Not my ideal situation, but not a big deal either. She still nurses a few times at night and since I've felt like I struggled with supply, I wasn't going to try to limit the night feedings until she turned 1.However, the last few nights she's been getting up crawling all over the bed in a half-sleep. (I swear she's going to be a sleep-walker) I can tell she's not really awake. But this binky-lover of a girl won't settle back down with a binky now. She has to have the breast, yet she goes back to sleep without eating b/c she's not swallowing. It's purely for comfort. I know she's not hungry, she just wants my boobs. And it seems like she does all night long! Long story short-- I'm getting tired of being an all-night buffet. Any advice on how to limit night wakings? She can share my bed, but just leave my boobs alone!

Re: I don't want to be an all-night buffet anymore. :(
My almost 11 month old does this to. I think it is probably a stage, because it seems like my girls did this at about this age too. I don't have any good advice though. I've just tried to grab the child before he crawls into a wall or out of bed and nurse him. I just go back to sleep while he nurses. One night last week he only slept for a few hours without being attached to me! Don't worry, this to will pass.

Thanks. I think part of my problem is that with the return of AF and my cycles, sometimes my nipples are sensitive and I don't want to comfort nurse.

I can understand completely! We had a large walk-in (I mean LARGE) closet that we converted to DS's room until he is older. Could you maybe put a screen or something around the crib or have a white noise machine that might help? We put a humidifier in the "nursery" and that really had helped DS sleep.

Re: I don't want to be an all-night buffet anymore. :(
Mine went through a phase like that. It is totally normal. And it also stopped. My son would wake up or lightly wine and want the breast just because it was available to him. We also cosleep. I usually slept facing him, but when that started when he would wake up I tirned my back to him so my boobs weren't right there in his face to have. Also if you don't let her know your awake. See if she will just settle back down on her own for a minute or two. Lightly rub her back perhaps. I can't remember what else I did.
Just remember this is just a phase.

Re: I don't want to be an all-night buffet anymore. :(
For the last month, I have been sleeping in my 3 year old sons bed with him (full size bed) and my daughter (who is 17 months old) has been sleeping with Daddy. I have "banned" nighttime feedings (from midnight-6 am) and she is a maniac for the boob if she sleeps with me but just fine for her father.
