Re: Would you switch OB just to homebirth?

Most definatly! I switched from my OB at 30wks to a MW practice and although the outcome wasn't the best, I had the best delivery (practically UC, the dr didn't show up in time and a lay MW/RN helped me deliver him) experience ever. I ended up going back to that same OB's office for the recovery of my 4th & the pregnancy of my 5th.

Re: Would you switch OB just to homebirth?

We chose a homebirth this time b/c of how HORRIBLE the hospital was to me the last birth. So I choose have a MW and have your LO at home!!!!!!

Re: Would you switch OB just to homebirth?

I switched from my beloved OB to a MW in the 7th month and never regreted it I loved my OB but the hospital/nurses I delivered my DD with sucked... Plus we moved since DD was born so that hosp. was 1.5 hrs away... I was afraid of finding a new person to trust, but I realized that it was all about how I wanted to birth my second baby, so I switched to a MW practice and had a truly wonderful hospital birth We didn't consider HB then because my first experience was scary/traumatic but this time we switched yet again and are now seeing a new MW who will help with our homebirth Totally worth it IMO!

Re: Would you switch OB just to homebirth?

I would say that your "birth experience" at a hospital has much more to do with the hospital and hospital staff (nurses, policy, etc), then the actual person you choose to attend to you at the birth (OB). For that reason, I would switch.
