Re: I can't eat stuffing?

I was told that yesterday. But since I already had Thanksgiving last month x2 with both sets of parents, I ate LOTS and LOTS of stuffing. Babe and I are both fine. *shrug*

Stuffing cooked outside the bird is still very tasty. We do it sometimes when we want extra stuffing. So if that's what you feel more comfortable doing, go for it!

2 thoughts:
1) Use a meat thermometer to check the temp of the stuffing in the bird.
2) If the stuffing isn't hot enough to be thoroughly cooked, pull it out and cook it some more in the oven or microwave till it's done.

No stuffing on T day! How unpatriotic!

It's not no stuffing. It's just cook stuffing outside the bird. Like I put above if you add some of the cooked turkey juice to the stuffing when preparing it, it taste just as good!

Re: I can't eat stuffing?

just microwave some...that will kill it. Or pull some out and put it in a muffin pan and put it under the broiler for a few...then it will get yummy and crunchy on top and you will know it's done cooking!

Ok I hear you but here's the thing, if you did get sick from and get a bacteria like listeria or salmonella, you may just have flu like symptoms no big deal but the baby, well let's just say its as serious as it can get and there is absolutely NO WARNING. Not trying to freak anyone out but once the harm is done it usually goes undetected until there is a nasty surprise. I never was an overly cautios person but I've learned pregnancy is very different!

Re: I can't eat stuffing?

yes I have heard this because the stuffing inside the bird doesn't get hot enough. I also heard you can still stuff the bird for flavor and have the stuffing............. IF you take it out of the cooked bird and then bake it in the oven till it reaches a temp of 165 degrees(I think that was the right temp) to be sure to kill any bacteria.
