What?!?No ginger?I ate tons of the stuff when I was pregnant!
Ginger is pretty well known for stimulating appetite, promoting digestion and relieving stomach cramps-and nausea.I have no idea why it wouldn't be good during pregnancy......

Re: No ginger while prego?

Ginger promotes menstruation, which is why some people say don't have a lot of it during pregnancy, but it also helps with nausea. So I guess it's all a matter of balance.

Re: No ginger while prego?

I'd read this as well, the explanation was that ginger can help bring on menstruation, thus you wouldn't want to cause a miscarriage. I avoided it mostly, I didn't drink ginger tea and wouldn't eat candied ginger, but didn't worry about it used as a seasoning.
There are also plenty of sites that recommend it for morning sickness though, so it must not be a big thing. It was not on the list of herbal teas considered safe from my prenatal class, so I avoided it all the same.
