breastfeeding craziness I need advice (ideas)

Ok I have a 5 1/2 month old that i am breastfeeding but all of a sudden he has gotten very nosey he will eat for about a minute then pop off to see whats going on then get back on pop off then on this goes on our whole feeding time and even if i go in the bedroom were its quiet he still has to look around I how can i get him to stay on and stop playing around Its getting really fusterating. ANy ideas are weclome Thanks tammy

My DD was so distracted from about 5-10 months! I just had to feed her someplace quiet, be quiet myself, and be very patient! No NIP for me during those months-not because I was embarrassed, but because DD would have never been able to focus!

I know some people have success with a nursing necklace?? Sorry I can't be of more help!

i hear you on this one! my son is almost six months and i have to go to a quiet place or ask my family members to not talk while he's nursing. they always forget though and POP! he's off to see what all the fuss is about. the worst is when my husband talks, cause my son just loves to see what his daddy is doing!

i haven't really done anything about it yet, but i agree with the past poster that i have heard that some moms have to get a nursing necklace. i think this is so common, the last little boy that i nannied would constantly pop off his mom so he could see what i was doing, we eventually just had to stay in separate rooms while he nursed. good luck!

A nursing necklace is a long necklace that usually made of large colorful beads. You wear it while you nurse and then DC plays with it thus not looking away from mama!

were can i get one of these necklaces. I agree with the dad thing he is the worst when daddy talks he just loves daddy so when ever he talks he thinks its just for him so he must see. So it sounds like this is pretty normal stuff my others didn't do that so this is a new thing for me i thought he wasn't hungry anymore but if you stop he screams bloody murder about 5 minutes later so he is hungry just can't concentrate on the eating silly boy

I'll see if I can find more. I think most of the suggestions in that thread tend to NOT be the plastic bead kind (those are really colorful). If the plastic ones are what you're looking for then maybe someone can SPAM you or you can ask for some spam. Try an ISO in the ISO section at the bottom of the main DS page - that might find you something.

I didn't know about nursing necklaces, but for the last few months I just hook a link of those little plastic rings on my bra strap while nursing. This has worked great for helping dd to eat without being distracted.

when my little ones have had the wiggles while they were nursing I would always try to get them to mimic my breathing. Sounds silly but I would breathe slow and deep to get them to calm down by doing the same. Also, massaged their thigh or feet or lightly blow on their forehead. hth

I got a nursing necklace from "twiddles & baubles" on ebay, I think the mom's ID is meandsara. Check the WAHM forum here, too. Somebody probably makes them!
