OWWW! Help! Clogged milk duct?

I have pretty much been breastfeeding non stop for nearly 4 years. First my ds, until he was 27 months, and then dd who is now 20 months. I have never had issues, but now, on my left breast, there is an area that feels hard to the touch and painful! Anyone have some advice for me? thanx!

Sounds like it could be a clogged duct to me. Put a warm/hot washcloth on it, esp right before nursing to encourage letdown and loosen things up a bit. I know it isn't always possible, but REST! Nurse often on the side that's clogged.

If you start feeling hot/feverish and achey all over, those are signs of mastitis and you should see your doc. GL mama!

hey mama, i feel your pain....is your breast hot and red, and does it feel bruised? if so - you prob. have mastitis! i just had it last week for the first time at 15.5 months with my dd! I still can't believe it since I didn't have cracked nipples nor have I ever had a clogged duct before. So make sure you get it checked out if it is still hurting you cause you will need antibiotics to clear it up if it is indeed infected.
