I still, God willing, have a good three weeks before birthing and I am sooooooooooooooo depressed I can't seem to snap out of it. We just bought our first house and instead of celebrating, I want to cry. My dh has a job that leaves him extremely tired and he is miserable to be around. I want to crawl in bed and not leave. Can I run away??-

You might be experiencing a drop in progesterone, just like right before AF comes. Progesterone will drop before birth and after giving birth, and that leads to blues, etc. Your body might be getting ready to deliver.

Don't forget all the feelings of being overwhelmed: new house, new baby, etc. ((((Big hugs)))). I was freaking miserable during my last pregnancy and was thankful that I delivered a month early (only after I found out that she was ok.)

Hang in there! Perhaps seeing your sweet baby's face will help.

I think I went on anti depressants 4-6wks before delivery with DS ...BUT I have a history of depression.

I got ppd after having my 3rd ds....talk to your dr and take antidepressants f needed. I took zoloft for 2 months after having my ds and next time I'm going to start them in my 3rd trimester. I hate feeling blue....well that and I didnt want to get out of bed, take a shower, eat, get dressed etc. I didnt eat a thing for 2 weeks! I also got so dehydrated my elbows cracked open...it was very painful and they took weeks to heal.
Oh yah.. back to your comment.....definately talk to your dr or midwife, the sooner the better.

It sounds like you've had enough stressors in your life lately BEYOND pregnancy/childbirth/newborn stuff to trigger some exhaustion/depression. Add the hormonal rollercoaster of pregnancy and stuff and no wonder you're feeling blue.

I totally agree with the PP, talk to your dr or midwife. They will probably have some great ideas for you.

The sad thing is I am already on antidepressants and anti anxiety meds.

I suppose I need to change them AGAIN.....
