wth is that thing? it may have gotten in after you started cooking or was in the pot but definitely call Kraft and complain anyways. you may get a free case of mac 'n cheese out of it.... and if you're totally turned off to the mac 'n cheese, ask for something else they make that doesn't remind you of huge black bugs.

Blech. That is freakin disgusting.

Hopefully, they will issue you a refund! A lot of places just send you coupons to buy more of their products, lol.

I do find it weird that you guys have different packaging from us here in Canada. Up here, it's just called "Kraft Dinner" - not Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. Most Canadians just call it KD for short. I just had some myself (the microwaveable kind) and it doesn't even say 'macaroni & cheese' on it.
Yeah. We went to Canada last year, and noticed the Kraft packaging was different. We have Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, and Velveeta Shells and Cheese. Both are made by Kraft, but Velveeta comes in a yellow box with Velveeta as the main word. In Canada, they are both Kraft but just different kinds. The boxes are completely different. Its funny. The ketchup is also different in Canada. Our first two ingredients are tomatoes and vinegar, your first two ingredients are tomatoes and liquid sugar. And, yours doesnt have high fructose corn syrup. Both Heinz. I did a lot of invesitgating groceries while there. hehe!

It looks like a moth to me and since you didn't notice it until it was all mixed with the powdered cheese it probably got in after the fact.

That's what I was thinking after discussing it with dh. It looks like a moth, we wings and all. If it had come out of the box, you probably would have noticed it first thing. I bet it slipped in afterwards. Dh said the most Kraft is gonna do is send you a replacement box...maybe.

Re: I found a bug in my Kraft Macaroni & Cheese! ***pic***

I worked at a Women's Shelter in my previous life (ya know, before kids) and we saw bugs in Mac n Chs all the time. But mostly it was cuz people donated food that was past it's experation date - food that has flour in it like noodles, baking mixes, and even flour itself - has an experation date (which I had no idea about until working there). Reason for the experation date is that bugs can grow (?) / get into somehow (??) / contaminate (???) the floury foods past that date. We would cook up pasta every once in a while and find two scoops of bugs in there. Super gross.

Yeah, I have to agree with the PPs..it looks like it got in after or you would have seen it before you were mixing it.

Sorry mama...that is so

Re: I found a bug in my Kraft Macaroni & Cheese! ***pic***

It is definitely not a cockroach, and looks like a moth (I am an entomologist). The insects that you usually find in older flour products are grain beetles. There are small moths that can also infest these products, but they are much smaller than the one you have there.

I'm sorry you had to deal with this mama It's not pleasant to have unexpected insects in your food, no matter how they got there.
