Pre-made meal ideas?
Is anyone making a few meals ahead of time? I'm looking for a few healthy meal ideas I can make this week and freeze. I also have to feed my midwife her assistant and everyone that will be attending my home birth. Something healthy and easy that my MIL or girlfriend can take out of the freezer and just heat up, it needs to feed @ 15-20

Re: Pre-made meal ideas?
There is a great book called once a month cooking, that has some really yummy recipes! I would suggest casseroles that can just be heated up

Re: Pre-made meal ideas?
You can make and freeze just about ANYTHING.
Lasagna (which can be made with lots of veggies for a healthier meal and ground turkey), chicken enchiladas, veggie soups or stew, casseroles, I make large batches of tomato/marinara sauce for pasta and freeze so I have it whenever I want, pancakes, waffles, any kind of baked pasta (like ziti or penne). You can Google it, and I'm sure there will be a zillion more recipes that peak your interest.

Re: Pre-made meal ideas?
You can make chili and freeze it. I've done this several times and it is still good. Just make a big pot and then put it in a big ziploc bag and it stays good frozen for a long time.

Re: Pre-made meal ideas?
I usually make a few lasagna's for the freezer, but have not made any this time around....(putting it on my list)
I have been making extra when I cook and putting it in ziplocks in the freezer. Here is what I have so far- one bag of chilli, one bag of home made chicken/rice soup, one bag of beef stew, all he needs to do with any of these is add either more water, or a can of sauce plus buns and veggies if needed. I bought a package of frozen organic veggies and stocked my freezer with frozen fruit and spinich and things easy to make meals from or snacks for the kids. So far I have never spent more than 3 days in the hospital, but its nice to know that dh will not starve lol. Both families are coming out to visit and stay here while I am in the hospital so I like to make it as easy as I can for him to cook. Plus feeding the other three kids too. I would say any pasta sauces that you can just add pasta to is a great idea for feeding a crew of people.

Check out www.recipezaar.com and do a search on "OAMC" (once a month cooking) and you'll find a TON of freezable meals!
