How do you convince your husband...
that a homebirth is something more than an accident?
The more I read, the better it sounds. I really like the idea of the midwife who actually cares about you, rather than an OB to whom you are just another preggo lady, another baby to be born. And I like the idea of a water birth. Really like that idea! Help me! What are the best books, links, etc?

Re: How do you convince your husband...
Just a suggestion as a win-win: pick a midwife that cares (I had one!!) & hospital that does water births (again my hospital allowed them, but I did not opt for it).

Re: How do you convince your husband...
I was looking around online, and I don't see any in our area. The hospital where I had my son has a whirlpool tub, but you can't use it once your water has broken.

Re: How do you convince your husband...
For me it as go with a Hyper OB that ran every test in the world and overacted. We fired him and switched to a new ob, I delivered my son in the hospital drug free and pushed for 3 hours. My DH realized I was superwoman and childbirth was not a medical emergency and Dr's ran to many tests.
My next was born at home. Or course that experience made him want me close to a hosptial should the need arise. So my next will be at the Birth center since we now live 30 minutes or more from medical care. Jenn

Re: How do you convince your husband...
When I first brought it up with my DH he wasn't very open to it, but I think he tried to be for my sake. He was worried about money as well aspotential complications, but I did the research and brought up bits and pieces in conversation. DS was born after precipitous labor and it was really overwhelming for both of us seeing as we only made it to the hospital about 25 minutes before he was born. It took a while to convince him that it wouldn't be that crazy if we just stayed home... especially since it's likely the next one will be faster.

Re: How do you convince your husband...
I wish I could try a HB but unfortunately I have the Group B Strep and I have to have an IV during labor.....
