Help!

I am just getting started CDing and I am waiting for some AIO's to come in the mail. In the mean time I have some pre-folds, and Gerber covers and they keep soaking through!!! I don't know if I am folding them wrong or what!? My other problem is that all of my diapers and covers stink!!! What do I do to get rid of that? I used baking soda, tea tree oil, and hung them out on the line all day. Is there anything I can do?

I don't do prefolds - but make sure you are getting all the soap out. Buildup=stink. Rinse a few extra times...

Add a 1/2 cup of vinegar to the rinse. It works. I put mine in a downy ball so I don't have to remember it.

if worst comes to worst and the vinegar doesn't work (normally does), you could put like 1/8c bleach in. i know we don't like to do that, but this is the absolute worst case solution! also try sportswash, i've heard wonderful things about that!

Using a Downy ball has to be the smartest thing I have ever heard!! Either that or I am not thinking! Thanks for the tip!!

Are you using gerber prefolds? If you are those things are junk!

Also, ifyour water is SUPER hard vinegar will hurt more than it will help.

also what gerber covers are you using? the ones w/the velcro or just the pull on ones?

Gerber stuff SUCKs! I've heard a few mommas IRL tell me that thay tried cloth and quit because of all the major leaks with Gerber covers and PFs!

You will be totally surprised at the difference in REAL cloth LOL You're probably better off with using a handtowel wrapped in a cover then a Gerber PF. JMHO

Ok now.... I use flats and prefolds and I have Gerber pull on covers too...
You have to make sure you fold them right, and if you are using pull ons you need to make sure you pin them fitly(is that a woed?). I typically use a flat or prefold w/ a velcro cover, w/ or w/o pins, then I use fitteds with Gerber Pull-ons, which I can get 3/$1 NIP ... I dont have leaking issues at all BUT my 3mth old son is not walking yet, that could make a difference I guess...(He IS pushing up, sitting w/ support, rolling over, etc) I dont use flat/prefold on our toddler b/c I cant catch him long enough..... I use AIO's with an additional liner/soaker- ok, sometimes being a flat or prefold...lol.

I just got back from walmart and bought a BUNCH of fabric to make my own prefolds & liners/soakers... Well, its been a couple hrs I guess now...its 2am here now, whoops, I better go to bed! lol

I am using Gerber prefolds and the velcro covers. They are leaking constantly. I do have some fitteds that I have been using with a pull on Gerber cover overnight and that seems better. I am waiting for some AIO's and new covers but I don't have a lot of money to buy all of this stuff right now! Maybe I will try some different prefolds when I get some more $. Any prefolds that you suggest?
