Okay I'm interested... Now what?

Well I've read a couple posts in this forum and now I'm interested in possibly giving EC a try. We currently us prefolds and covers. Would it be possible to go coverless? I saw something about "prefold belts" googled it and it looks kind of like a giant hair scruncie (spelling?). How do they work?
DS is 5 and a half months old and we're home pretty much all day, realistically how hard is it to get started in EC?
Can you recommend good books and/or websites to find more info?
Do you know if any major chains carry the bblp?
Thanks,
Amber

Re: Okay I'm interested... Now what?

I'm VERY new at this...but here's what I've learned/done so far.

www.theecstore.com has lots of EC stuff.

The easiest way to learn your baby's signs is if they're nekkid, I think. What I've been doing is just letting him lay on the floor with a shirt and legwarmers on. When I nurse I put a waterproof type pad (cribcover/lappad) on my lap and a prefold between his legs to catch the pee. So far I'm only learning his poo signs...which is gnawing on me!!!

I also saw that someone posted on here some books fsot on EC'ing. And in one of the posts there's a post with lots of helpful links...I'll see if I can find it.

HTHS!

Re: Okay I'm interested... Now what?

We really love the tribalbaby link. THe potty whisper dvd is great, but haven't checked out the link.

Babiesrus has the bblp. I just got one in PINK (to compliment my white and blue ones). I'd also recommend the toilet seat insert . I wish we'd started using this sooner. We got the one from target (munchkin) and love it.

Love the Diaper Free: Natural INfant Hygiene one. On another poster's recommendation, I'm rereading Infant Potty Training (the THICK one). It's got some great info on how families in other countries potty.

HTH!
