Re: ameda pump

I love the Purely Yours for becus it has different options then the PIS and is less expensive. I love the independent suction and cycling speed becus i find i get more milk if i do a faster cycling and a lower suction and the PIS doesnt have that option. Not only that but the PY is FDA approved due to the fact that it has EXTERNAL diaphragms rather then internal like many other pumps. Which means there is less chance of milk backing up into the pump and shortening the life of the pump. Plus it makes it a lil safer to buy a used PY then a used PIS. I highly recommend it.

True, the only reason I am considering the rental is I have had such supply issues.

I would definitely not need the bag and extras, great idea on the hospital "freebie" diaper bag

Re: ameda pump

Our hospital sells the PIS and PY at cost in the lactation dept portion of our maternity dept. I got mine with all the bells and whistles for 175, maybe something to check into.

I know some are opposed to it, but I got my PY on fsot for $50 with the bag and everything. I boiled all the parts and bought new tubing for it, can't remember how much that was now??? I know it wasn't that much. I'm totally cheap on anything to be used for myself.

Re: ameda pump

I have the PY as well - it's been working for me for 6 months. I did have to buy larger breast shields (about $12) as the ones that come with the pump were way too small for me (34DDD). I know buying used pumps is controversial, but after using this pump, I can't see why you couldn't safely use a used one of the PY. There really is no way for the milk to back up into the motor. You can buy new tubing for less than $10, I think. HTH!

I LOVE my Ameda purely yours. Much better than the Medela PIS in my opinion.

Thanks! Lori
We rented a hospital grade for 2 weeks & now we have a Purely Yours. While the PY isn't as strong as the hospital grade, obviously, I really do like it and find it works quite well.
