Past Sippy Stage?

DD is 8 months old and has never had a sippy, I didn't really bother trying cause we didn't need it. Now I'm wishing I could give her breastmilk in the sippy once in a while and she totally rejects it. Did I wait too long? Is she out of the "open to try new things" stage? Any tips? I won't do nubies, they are too bottle like and she refuses a bottle anyways.
