Sores/blisters on the bottom of ds's feet?

DS (17 mo) has a handful of perfectly round slightly raised, red blisters/sores on the bottom of his feet and heels. What on earth could they be? They don;t look like HFM and there is nothing in his mouth or hands. In addition, though possibly completely unrelated, he has a bad case of diareaha (sp?) and a horrible diaper rash and some sores a bit outside of the diaper area, but they do not look like the blisters on his feet.

Should I be concerned? he grabs his feet a lot, but doesn't seem really bothered and he doesn't talk so I can't ask him questions.

Advice? TIA!!

ETA: he is barefoot 90% of the time

I was going to suggest HFM, but have you bought him new shoes lately that he's worn?

Re: Sores/blisters on the bottom of ds's feet?

Well, DD2 got HFM at daycare but never had any blisters on her mouth, because she is breastfed, so the symptoms can vary. If it IS HFM, it will clear up on its own within a week or so.

On the other hand, I used to get little blisters occasionally, ometimes on my feet and sometimes on my fingers. They were not painful and the doctor said it can be caused by a simple virus. Again, no treatment necessary.

I'd just watch it and if they worsen or are still present after a week, check in with his doctor

Nope, no new shoes, but the blisters seem better today and if it is HFM it poses no risk to PG as far as I can find so, I guess it'll pass

go to google. Google "hand foot mouth disease" then click "images" most cases will be mild. You can try "blisters soles" in images too.
