Is this because I nurse??

Okay, a weird thing ds has been doing lately... and I'm wondering if it's because he's used to me holding him while feeding (nursing) him...

He's almost 8 months old and eats some baby food and can self feed cheerios and small bits of banana. Lately when I try to feed him baby food in the high chair, after a few bites he freaks out and starts crying until I take him out of the high chair. He immediately stops crying and wants more baby I feed him while he's sitting on my lap. I can then put him back in the high chair for his cheerios and banana bits.

Any thoughts?

I'm going to venture on a phase. DD did the same thing. Now I just give her lots of different options (one at a time) and she'll contently pick out what she wants to eat and leave the rest.

That's my guess.

It's more than likely a phase. DD1 went through this and is going through it again since DH has been away with work. This too shall pass.

You might be right about that, he might be feeling like, "something's wrong here, I usually feel more cozy than this!!" But my guess is that it'll be a short lived phase if you keep responding to it by picking him up. If he knows he's safe and has access to that cozy lap, he'll probably stop feeling like he needs it as much and will start feeling safe in the high chair.

I don't think it is because you nurse, my friend bottle fed and all of her kids would rather eat while she held them!! And another girlfriend who nursed had a little one who never wanted to be held on her lap while he ate....

I think babies just want to be held, lol!
