My friend's mom has always sworn by cocoa butter (the real stuff). I was overweight when I became pregnant, so stretch marks aren't a huge issue for me now, so I can't tell you if it worked for me, but she's pretty adamant about cocoa butter!

Re: Stretch marks
I think its 99% genetic. If your mother and grandmothers got stretchmarks...you probably will too.
It also is how you carry. With DS I was "all out front" and I got a few. DD I carried her ALL around and I got a bunch more. This time I am all out front again and I have only got 3 new ones...but I still have the potential to go a few more weeks.

Re: Stretch marks
I got them starting in the 8th month, which leads me to believe if I hadn't gained the whole 61 lbs, I wouldn't have gotten them. Because I was MOSTLY baby and carried my 10lber very low and very OUT! I got some even though I put shea butter, and cocoa butter cream on my belly everyday. Didn't help. But you know, I thought they'd bother me, but they really don't, I look at it as battle scars, I went through hell having her and now I appreciate them, the woman's body is an amazing thing to be able to sustain life and stretch to accomadate it, they do fade a lot after a while.

Re: Stretch marks
I have so many stretch marks and I stretched so bad in my belly area that I now have an apron. I was only about 130lbs when I got pregnant with #1 and due to preeclampsia I gained 75 lbs!! Needless to say, I got no new stretchmarks with #2. I didn't gain as much weight and I didn't get preeclampsia the second time around.
