Re: What do you eat for mid-morning & afternoon snacks?

We are also pretty boring, here are our most common snacks:

Fruit (apples, bananas and grapes are most common).
Veggies (carrots, celery, green peppers, cucumbers are most common)
raisins
celery or apples and peanut butter (with raisins on top sometimes..ants on a log...LOL)

toast and peanut butter
dry cereal mix (kix, cheerios, crispix, etc)
nuts (peanuts, pistachios, almonds, etc)
cookies (homemade each week)
fresh bread (homemade once a week)
smoothies
graham crackers (with or without peanut butter or dipped in milk)

Re: What do you eat for mid-morning & afternoon snacks?

I'm also on a gluten free diet

I usually eat fruits and veggies... I'm kinda odd in that I don't eat cereal for breakfast (maybe once in a blue moon) - I tend to eat it in the reccommended 1 cup portion size as a snack... sometimes I have fruit-yoghurt, but I also make my own cakes, pies and cookies so I'll have that from time to time, and once in a blue moon I get a craving for chips or M&Ms so I follow my cravings and just have enough to sate them.

I make fruit smoothies with a splash of fanta or sprite (and lots of ice) once every two weeks or so too... those come in handy when you need to eat and just don't feel like eating.

Since my food is Gluten free, I have to use a lot of different things to make my cakes, brownies, pies and cookies... so overall they're generally healthier than most others you'll find on the market (Example: Carrot cake I had a while back had 3 different kinds of whole flour, two or three carrots in it, pineapple and all natural spices, apple cider -- and the icing was made with cream cheese with little to no sugar - one slice was like having two servings of fruit, one of milk and one of carbs. LOL)

I get organic fruits and veggies where I can and make things like zuchinni or carrot or banana bread to snack on from time to time for my DH since he likes bread so much. I don't like bread that much (even GF varieties) except for a few very select types so I don't find I munch on those much at all.

When I was state-side... mozzerella string cheese and cheddar cheese (that I sliced myself) or pre-sliced cheese (cheddar-monterrey jack) was a life-saver. I LOVE my cheese.

Sadly I can't seem to find the same quality cheese here on the economy so I've slacked off on the dairy.

Re: What do you eat for mid-morning & afternoon snacks?

I usually do fruit in the mornings (apples, oranges, bananas or grapes, generally) and veggies in the afternoon (carrot sticks and broccoli florets with hummus, usually). Sometimes I have cheese and crackers. Another fav in the morning is avocado bruschetta on sourdough toast (recipe from "Nigella Express"). I also really like Mrs. May's trio bars.
