Re: How often to wash a baby?

DS gets one 1-2 a week (he's 5 months). Once we start solids, that will probably change. But at our house, we're firm beilievers in not cleaning things until they're dirty. lol

Re: How often to wash a baby?

My first didn't get regular baths when he was little little because he'd get *really* dry...and he wasn't smelly or dirty. He'd get wiped down if he *did* get dirty..but generally, he didn't get regular baths..I wouldn't even say once a week (but he was always clean - we're not gross )

My second though - different story...he was a stinky little baby right from the get-go and was getting a bath every day as soon as his cord stump was gone & healed. He was just super oily and he's very warm natured, so he sweats a lot..and he just had some serious B.O. He *required* a daily bath. Now at 2.5yo and 1yo, they get daily baths. My first is still dry (eczema) so he does get lotion and everything...but they need daily baths. My kids do.

Most frequent would be once a week...but it's more like once every other week. She gets her hands and face washed with every meal and snack (usually just a damp washcloth, no soap), and her bottom with every diaper change. But other than that, she's not dirty or smelly so there's no need. Excessive bathing just leads to skin problems. We all bathe too much, actually, and it's the root of many of our skin and hair problems.

Re: How often to wash a baby?

Eh, I throw em in the tub when they stink, haha. My kiddos get a bath on average every other day or so. I don't think giving a daily bath will hurt the little one at all. Just keep him moisturized I used to wipe my kids down daily with a wet cloth when they were tiny babies

Re: How often to wash a baby?

Bruce only took baths once a week when he was little. Now that he's a toddler and it's warm weather it's more like twic a day. He loves to play in mud. I'm sure once winter hits it will be more like every other day.

Re: How often to wash a baby?

When DS was littler we did it EOD but now we do a bath every night before bed. He's a sweaty boy and though he doesn't smell at the end of the day, he crawls and walks all over my house so I like to get him all clean.
He likes to play with the water anyway so there isn't an issue getting it done.

Re: How often to wash a baby?

we do a couple times a week.
both my older kids have super sensitive skin, so anything more isnt too good.
and the baby, i bathe him every couple days and just wipe him down in between that time

DS gets a bath every day. He is a stinky baby! And even at that, there are times when I can barely hold him right before his bath because he stinks so bad.

Re: How often to wash a baby?

I bath Lilly every second or third day (she's 3 weeks old). My older dd is 4 and she still only baths e/o day. I start daily showers when they start school (helps wake them up in the morning).
