Acyrilic soakers?

I noticed a few soakers made with 100% acrylic wool and was wondering are they as good as 100% wool wool? Do you have to lanolize them too? Do they absorb the moisture like wool?
My mom is going to try making some for my DD but she has a ton of acrylic and wants to know if the can use that or if ahe needs to buy wool.

from what i understand it will work as a cover but it is not at all like wool. you have to wash it every time it is worn and it does not absorb the liquid just repels it like a normal cover.

Wool you only have to wash every 2-3 weeks unless soiled and it will soak up extra moisture. hth

It *should* work just as well. However, you can't lanolize it to make it more waterproof, and you have to wash it after every use. I've heard people say it works just as well, but I've also heard people say it didn't work for them at all.

Acrylic longies should be treated just like fleece pants. They're plastic, so it'll work as a cover. They won't absorb like wool. However, they're machine washable. We use acrylic here because Abby's sensitive to wool.
