ipf's don't hold in poop. Why?

I swear, I've finally got the hang of them, and I'm doing a jellyroll. Dd is 18mos and so her poop isn't really runny anymore -- just a huge volume every time. Anyway, every time she poops I end up with poop on the inside of the cover. I'm using BSWW and bumkins. And the occasional imse vinse day. Is this normal?

Re: ipf's don't hold in poop. Why?

My dd is 20 months and we have never had that problem. When you are finished pin/snappi the ipf, hold her legs up and check for gaps. Also, maybe it is sliding down after you put a cover on it. Check it occasionaly during the day.
Hope this helps.

The jelly-roll fold should work...
You may want to try folding the prefold down for a lower rise than you usually use so that when she is up and moving around, it doesn't settle lower and cause gaps around her legs. Maybe check her a few minutes after she's been changed to be sure...good luck

Re: ipf's don't hold in poop. Why?

does she need toddler size yet? I found I got more leaks becasue the premiums were too small for my 31 pounder.

Also, though.....you should not be getting leaks if you have it tight enough. Are you pinning or using something else? We pin here and get it as tight as possible. If your child's poo is not solidly formed though I think it is posible to get some on the cover most of the time. It is just the way the consistemcy goes, I guess.

She is about 23lbs. I will try pinning as tight as I possibly can and getting a lower rise. Thanks moms.

Re: ipf's don't hold in poop. Why?

We use IPFs & do just fine w/EBF poo all the way to the big boy stuff w/rarely a leak. LMK if I can help. We had to move to toddler eventually but that was short lived & actually went back to premium after a slim down period.
