Red face Another "paranoid" question from the newbie Mum

Okay, so we all know bf babies grow quick... now, can a baby go two months w/out growing an inch? Gavin was 27 inches at 4 mos, and again now at 6 mos (it actually is more like a month and a half but anyhow)

yes! It is quite possible that he did grow they just didn't measure him right at his 4th month app. its very hard to measure wiggly infants!

LOL, I've got a better one for ya, my dd shrunk an inch! She was 26 inches at her 4 mos check up. I went in again about 2 weeks later and they measured her again and they said she was only 25 inches! It really depends on whose doing the measuring, how wiggly they are, how they are positioned on the table....the ped said that height measurements on infants are really unreliable and they don't really worry too much about it.

Remembre babies also grow in spurts... They will get chubby, then slim out and shoot up..

I hve had 2 babies that gained NOTHING( or lost) and didnt grow at all. for like 3-4 months. They wre true FTT. If your baby is gaining, then alll is well. and i agree with the PP, it relaly depends on who is measureing and how much the stretch your baby....

No worries, hang in there Your baby looks great!!!

I agree w/ the previous posters. What's your gut feeling? Did he gain weight? How does is body look to you? If he's still gaining weight, and his body doesn't look too gaunt, I wouldn't worry.

My oldest (mostly bfed, some forumula) didn't gain any weight for 2 months. I started him on cereal at 4.5 months (my first kid, before I knew to wait to 6 months....and thsi was 13 years ago!) He self weaned at 8 months. We found out years later that he had weak oral muscles so he was not able to suck efficiently at the breast.

But again, as long as he is gaining weight, he should be fine.
