Smile We're delaying vaxes.

Well DS was fully vaxed, and DD has been so far, but we're approaching 12 months and I've been getting more and more uneasy about continuing to do so. So even though I hate to be difficult, I told the doctor today that I wanted to start spacing the remaining vaxes out and delaying them some.

I'm totally tickled that he had no problem at all with it. I was ready to dig in my heels but it's nice not to have to! He just let me know what was coming up, and I'm going to get back with him with when I want to give them.

So thank you very much for everyone who has posted with info on this topic, and especially those who have shared their own bad experiences. I just reached a point where I realized I can not dismiss what people are saying happened to their own kids.

I'm so relieved to have made this decision. LOL, I just realized I should probably mention it to DH. He leaves that kind of thing to me but he should probably know.

Now I just have to figure out what I want to do and when.

I'm glad it went easily for you with the doctor! We switched peds for dd's 4 month visit and I was practically having anxiety attacks planning out what I was going to say to him, but he had no problem with us saying we're not vaccinating at this time and was really great about it! I have a feeling he's one of those peds who doesn't vax his own kids but has to encourage them because he's part of a practice, you know? I was SO relieved after that appointment, it's great not having to get aggressive about it. I have lot of trouble standing up to doctors (for myself, at least), but I was ready to do it if necessary...it was just better that I didn't need to!

Yup, it's just a relief. I really liked this doctor so I was hoping this wouldn't torpedo a perfectly nice working relationship. But if I had been forced to I would have stood firm. I'm getting better at that as I go -- if I had another 5 kids eventually I'd be tough!
