Cipro is an L3 catagory. It caused some joint problems in baby cows
The primary side effects in peds patients have been GI upset.
If your DS is 2 and only night nurses, I hardly see any reason for the fuss. Just watch him for GI symptoms.

My guess is that the med is a smoke-screen to impose their dissaproval of your extended nursing. Stay strong Mama!

Bottom line is - it's your baby and your breasts. Don't let anyone try and bully you. I don't care what anyone else's stand is on breastfeeding. If you want to do it, then do it.

Yep, I'm with the others. Your breasts, your baby, your business. You do what feels right for you. It seems you want to keep nursing, and it seems like your child needs to, so keep on keeping on.

As for the doctors, most of them know next to nothing about breastfeeding. And their blanket answer to everything is to "just wean." It's easier to say that than to actually educate themselves on how milk production works, and what's REALLY safe and not.

I always, always go with what Dr. Hale says. If Hale says it's safe, I believe him. He actually understands the processes, unlike everyone else.

Re: Was told 3 times today to stop BF

Thank you so much everyone!! I really would like to have him weaned here pretty soon, I'm hoping for another month.. only because *I* feel ready... but, I'm just not going to make him miserable and push him so it's a gradual process.. Shoot, I had him down to nap and bedtime only around Christmas.. then he got an ear infection in Jan, and all he would do is nurse, if it weren't for that he probably would have been hospitalized.. then, I got him back down to naps and bedtime again, just for another ear infection in Feb.. he got tubes and has been perfectly healthy since and now I got him back down to the nap and bedtime, now just bedtime.. so I figure not long now... Everyone was so supportive of me bfing for that first year, since then I always hear crap.. My own dad even says things like, "go let him nurse on one of your cows in the pasture".. What the heck? Show's you their skewed sense of thinking on BFing I guess. I dunno.. I just don't like being pushed to do something I'm already trying to do.. I'm about ready to get nasty and say some very un-nice things to people around here!
Thank you all for the support, it's exactly what I need to hear!

It's an L3 which is moderately safe. So, I wouldn't worry about it, do what feels right to you! GL mama!
