Best Sites for Almost-Cloth-Converts?

I am sooo excited because recently I have had 3 different mamas express a genuine "maybe I could do that" interest in CDing. They are all in different stages with DC-- one TTC, one due in Dec, and one that has 2 in diapers and is tired of paying $40/month for sposies.

I want to tell each of them everything I know, but that is waaay too much to absorb, and I really don't want to overwhelm them with all the choices out there. And I really want to see them become CDing mamas!

So I thought I would get them started by giving them some fantastic educational, well-organized, and motivational websites. So, mamas, what are the most impressive out there? Of course I would still be around to answer questions, but this way they could explore at their own pace.

Although, I also may want to give a little more personal advice to the mama who already has kids in diapers, so she can just get started and stop wasting money. Hmmm. Thinking out loud now--thanks for you help!

BTW, anyone seen that Cloth Diapering Handbook in person? Would that be a good gift?

My favorite one is www.diaperpages.com. That site makes it seem so easy.

Well, I don't have anything to offer except WOW! I wish I had someone like you around when I started my conversion. I was so lost (and still am most of the time) and anyone I knew who CD'd just told me to go to here or diaperspins...no help!!!

Re: Best Sites for Almost-Cloth-Converts?

i'm doing the same thing for a friend of mine. i printed out some pages / articles from diaperpin.com for her. i also bought a $3 from amazon used books, "diaper changes," which is okay for some of the basics (like why to do cloth over disposable) but is rather outdated and also promotes diaper services a little heavily.

other than that, i can't wait to hear what you other mamas suggest, or if this $20 book is worth buying ...

when i first started, i looked on the diaper message board on babybargains.com. but that faq is kind of all over the place, not very consolidated. not to mention that the site itself has some loading quirks on my computer so it's a little frustrating to use. so i don't recommend them.

Re: Best Sites for Almost-Cloth-Converts?

Thanks, Mamas for the ideas!

I just browsed the sites quickly, but they look great!

Stacey--I don't think I'm that special of a friend--I'm just so addicted to CDing that I want everyone to come to our side and become addicted, too!

Any opinions on the Diapering Handbook?

Thanks again!

I sell The cloth diapering handbook at my cd classes and all the Moms rave about it afterwards. I've read it too and it seems very good and not intimadating at all! Especially good when you are there to help out with any other questions. One Mom-to-be said "I don't feel so lost anymore". HTH's!!!
