Re: This name for a girl?

I know both a boy and a girl named Tucker and it fits both of them perfectly. But, if I were to use it, *personally*, I would use it for a boy.

I would never think "tuck your johnson" for a boy. I think tucker is anice boy's name. For a girl? Its just not very feminine. I"m not a fan.

I don't care for it as a name for either and I would think it was just as..."strange" for a girl as for a boy. I guess I'm trying to say that I think it's unisex enough that it wouldn't make me think twice.

And FWIW, if I ever have another girl her middle name will be Jaimes (James).

Re: This name for a girl?

Thank you, all! I went to college with a woman named Tucker and always liked it, and have never personally known a boy named Tucker, but always just thought it more boy-ish. DH loves it for both girl or boy, but I have a girl name I like better, so...

Just because people are using more boy names for girls doesn't mean they're becoming unisex. I know someone who named her daughter Ryan, and IMO that little girl will spend her life having to explain that yes, she really is a girl.

To the OP: Tucker isn't a unisex name. If you want to name your daughter Tucker then go for it because it's your choice in the end... but don't be surprised when the rest of the world thinks you have a son.

I think also its sound more boyish, but who cares?

I'd be more concerned about the use of it with your last name. You know how on name lists it has your last name first? So even if its for a girl she'd still be a Johnson Tucker. Sorry, but i would've wanted someone to point that out to me if i didn't see it.

Re: This name for a girl?

To be honest, I'd be more concerned about kids on the playground calling him/her "sucker" or "fu...er" than the whole "tuck your Johnson in" thing.

I also think Tucker sounds like a boy's name, but agree with a previous poster who said name your daughter whatever you want, but be prepared for people to assume it's a boy and not a girl (and don't get offended).

Re: This name for a girl?

SS, mama. My parents have a jack russel terrier named tucker. we call him the jack russel terrorist because he is so bad. I can't envision a sweet baby named tucker when all i can see is that demon-possessed devil-dog destroying everything in his path.
That said, naming the baby that u nurture it's whole life is such a personal thing, that u should never let anyone sway your decision(i did, and i regret it). It is only one of the countless decisions u will make on lo's behalf that nobody has the authority to say ys or no about, kwim?
So, if u name him/her Tucker, that baby is so special and so loved that nobody's opinions will matter, and as far as johnson being the last name, kids r going to find something to tease other kids about, whether it b their last name, the clothes they wear, grades, braces............
Goodluck picking out baby's name. I know it's tuff. We're doing that right now, too.
