Why are my covers turning red?

And what can I do about it? Some of my Proraps and Dappi covers are turning a little red/orange on the plasticky side around the leg area. I never dry them in the dryer, and I wash with Dawn and baking soda on hot with a cold rinse with vinegar . What's going on?

I had that happen with a lot of my old white covers, It did seem to fade over time. Not sure if was from pee or poop.

Me too.

Sometimes sunning works for me. After a while though I just gave up. All my nylon and PUL covers (bummis whisper pants, proraps) get this. My bummis SIWW don't though, the stains come out of those really nicely.

when you find something let me know!

Re: Why are my covers turning red?

That actually sounds like it could be mold. We get a pinkish/orange thing going on in the plastic bathtub if I don't scrub it well enough in too long, and I've found the identical stuff in a bottle that sat too long (you know, the one that escapes and rolls under the couch to be found a week later... ).

If it's not on a print side, I'd suggest seeing if using diluted bleach on a toothbrush to thoroughly clean that area might work. Then just wash them again as normal to remove any bleachy residue. Since mold loves the damp, if you hang dry you might hit the affected areas with a hair dryer on low to ensure it dries quickly but without putting the whole cover in the dryer or using too hot a temperature.

We got this if a cover gets poo on it. I just sun them and the stain comes right out
