Unhappy feeding time is not a relaxing time in our house...

It used to be...now, ds fights with his boobies and screams at them. Why?!? I know he has reflux but we seem to have gotten it under control. This is the only time he's not happy is when he's eating.

I've been giving him one bottle a day because I go back to work part time tomorrow and wanted him used to it. I'm wondering if he's liking the bottle better because he doesn't have to work as hard. Does this mean that bfing is just going to get harder since he'll be getting more bottles or do you think eventually he'll get used to both and be happy with either?

DD did that once when I was giving her too many bottles. Something I read then said to nurse with the lights out walking around- something about distraction maybe? I can't remember...but that's how I got her to latch on- walking around. weird. Sorry mama- maybe it's just a strike!

He'll get used to it. You'll be amazed how much he will want mamma when he doesn't see you all day. That is what happened when I went back to work when older ds was 4 months. He at first liked the bottle because it was easy, but when it came down to mamma being away, he only wanted his mommy!

Do you have a nursing necklace or anything you can give him while you nurse?

Anything to distract him?

Both my boys were more interested in their surroundings than eating.. lol Can you swaddle him and see if that makes him more focus on nursing?

Sorry you're having a rough go of it Mama!

Mama, I'd stay with the slowest flow nipple and make him work for it if he seems to be getting frustrated before let down.

If his frustration is happening after let down, you may be letting down more forcefully then he is used to with the bottle and he may not prefer it. Can you unlatch him for let down and then put him back on if that is the case?

We're using the breastflow bottles and staying on a slow flow nipple. I thought with those, it somewhat simulated a letdown and made them work a little harder to get milk. I guess nothing is perfect though...

On the one side he prefers, I think my letdown is stronger. He doesnt seem to like the side where it doesn't come as fast.

I honestly have no idea when I letdown though. I can't feel a thing. Is that normal?

This makes me feel so much better! I'm so worried he'll hate nursing after I go back to work since he takes a bottle so well.

Oh, yeah, I second the slow flow. I think I had my son on slow flow until we transitioned him to a sippy cup. The lady at the day care asked about it when he started turning red when he was sucking so hard. Then we switched to sippy cup totally!
