Re: Bottlefeeding mamas

I held DD with every feeding until she wouldn't let me anymore... I'm trying to think, maybe she was 8 months old when she started refusing? Can't be any later than that because she was fully on sippy cups at 8.5 months of age. I was sad when that happened, too... But it made her happier to do it herself.

Re: Bottlefeeding mamas

DD #1 was the only one on a bottle at that age, she was very independent (still is!) and wanted to hold her own bottle. She usually was in her carseat (and would scoot out the top when she was done! or on a boopy type pillow.

I was also pg at the time. She switched to a sippy cup (take and toss) at about 10 1/2 months and never missed the bottle.

Re: Bottlefeeding mamas

DS just started insisting on holding his bottle on his own and not sit/snuggle on my lap at night time anymore. It makes me sad honestly as it was our special 'snuggle time' b4 he went to sleep Now he squirms until I put him down in his bed and give him the bottle and he drinks it alone and then falls asleep... Guess the glider in his room will be soon for sale lol.

Re: Bottlefeeding mamas

My oldest son had a bottle at 4 months. He always sat in my lap, my DH, or my mom's. Mostly mine though He did this up until he was 12 months and off the bottle. I never let him hold it though, or maybe he just wouldn't Well, in anycase it was my lap or no bottle. He was a cuddle bug though.

Re: Bottlefeeding mamas

DS1 was bottlefed and I held him when he got a bottle. I liked that cuddle time...even when he was pretty mobile he was good about letting me hold him for meal/cuddle time.

Re: Bottlefeeding mamas

Viktor is starting to like to hold his bottle now at 7 months but he still sits in my lap when he does it. He likes to cuddle up close to me when he eats so he enjoys it.

DS stopped using the bottle at a year, but he never EVER held his own bottle. He was a super busy, independent baby, but he loved that cuddle time with me. And I did, too, that was the ONLY time he would ever let me hold him still. I miss it... he's 18 mos old now and constantly on the go!

I held her for every feeding, reclined and snuggling and looking into my eyes. She switched to Nuby cups at 10mo and I held her and fed her those too, till she would no longer let me.
