Can boys stop....

.... peeing midstream?
DS1 (4yo) goes through these cycles of having accidents. Sometimes he says he can't tell when he has to pee. He tells me once he starts, he can't stop it. Is that right? Is it that way for men too?
I just want to be sure it's normal and not something wrong.

Well, DJ has always been able to pee on command (and stop it when he wants to) but I sure can't do that so if your son says he can't stop it, then I'd trust him.

I think that if everything is functioning normally than it is as easy to stop as it is for you. Of course, if he's new to the toilet or has an infection it could be another story.

Maybe he just doesnt know how to stop. Both my boys can stop midstream. Even my lo. We let him have naked time and sometimes he starts to go pee. As soon as I say somethign he stops immediatly (too bad he wont pee on command just stop) My eldest dd even at 8 cannot stop midstream. I think some children/ ppl just cant control that maybe work with teaching him how to do it. Dh said it is like squeezing those muscles (like keegals) and that men can do them the same as women. So have him practice when he is going pee make it a game

I think it's an individual thing...some people can and some can't. I can't. When I'm going, I'm going. If I try to stop, I'm in agony until I finish. DS can stop just fine and he's not even completely potty-trained!
