If you are nursing an older baby (12 months and up) do you use all the extra points that you get for being a nursing mom? Im wondering if since my DS doesnt nurse a lot, that if I use all the extra points Im not going to lose any weight.

Nope when I did ww as ds got older I did not get to count all the points. The complete added points are for moms who are nursing all the time. If baby is not taking those calories you dont need the extra points. I hope that makes sense. My WW leader went over it with me at the time we just slowley took those points away as ds nursed less.

the general rule is you get 10 points as a nursing mom. If baby nurses less than 5 feedings a day use 2pts per nursing session. So, I get 35 points as a nursing mom.... if DS only nursed before bed and at waking, I would get 29 points. HTH!

Just be careful. I lost my milk supply when I started doing WW and I did eat all of my extra points.

My milk seemed to go down for a few days at first, but I was just intentional about keeping my water drinking high and I haven't had any problems since.... you know yourself and your babe... if it takes you a few weeks to wean your body down to the right point level, you're still headed in the right direction!

I did it when DS was 13-15 mos (and am starting up again today) and used all my 10 extra points and always lost 2 lbs a week. But he nurses a lot.
