Chai Tea
Over the weekend, I had a Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks which I think may be my new addiction -- so yummy!! Has anyone made these at home and had success? I can't afford to buy it at Starbucks all the time so I need to find a way to make these at home.

Re: Chai Tea
How much sugar and 1/2 and 1/2 or milk do you add? I'm going to the local health food store tomorrow so I can get some chai tea

Re: Chai Tea
Thanks! I found this recipe and just made it -yummy! I had all the ingredients except the ginger. Took a little while to make but turned out great!
1 1/2 cups of water 1 1/2 inch stick of cinnamon 8 cardamom pods 8 whole cloves 1/4 inch fresh ginger root (sliced thin) 2/3 cup of milk 6 teaspoons sugar 3 teaspoons of Darjeeling Tea leaves Place water, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and ginger in a pot and bring to a boil. Cover and lower heat to low setting and simmer for 10 minutes. Add milk and sugar and again bring to simmer. Next, add the tea leaves, remove from heat and cover. Let steep for 3 minutes and strain. Enjoy!

Re: Chai Tea
Oh, I LOVE Chai!!!! I even was able to find Decaf Chai when I was pg!!! IMO, the Chai from Starbucks is a little too syrupy. If you make it with a tea bag or from scratch, it's much better!!!

Re: Chai Tea
Here's the recipe my mom uses, not sure where it's from, but it's pretty good.
Instant Chai Tea 1 1/2c instant tea powder (you can use decaf) 2c powdered non-dairy creamer 1/2c dry milk powder 1c Splenda 1/4c Sweet'n Low brown sugar (or other non-calorie brown sugar) 2tsp vanilla powder (I think she gets this online somewhere) 1tsp ground ginger 1tsp ground cinnamon 1tsp ground nutmeg 1tsp ground cloves 1tsp ground cardamom 1tsp ground allspice Combine all ingredients in a food processor and process for 2 mins. Store in an airtight container. To serve, place 2Tbsp in a mug and fill with hot water, stir well. Makes approx. 48 servings. Enjoy!
