Re: Your 17months old (or about) and you say......
Alex is 16 month and he says a ton of words. Even 2 word sentences. Totally different from Donovan, who really did not start talking until about 2 1/2 years old (he also had to go through speech therapy and was a premie). It is probably the older sibling thing that makes the second one talk soo much.

Journey is 16 months and he says
mama dada no yes ball dog uh oh that mine car bye hi truck boob thank you elmo I'm sure theres more, he's just taken off in the past month. I think having older siblings helps them talk sooner, at least in my experiance.

Re: Your 17months old (or about) and you say......
DS is 22 months old and says:
mama dada uh oh that is all that is clear. I'm sure we will be placing him in speech therapy. My 3 year old needs therapy as well. I don't necessarily agree with the older children teaching the younger ones to talk like crazy. I have 2 older children and the little ones don't learn from them.

Re: Your 17months old (or about) and you say......
DD is 5 days younger than your DS, so she just turned 17 months.
She says: mama dada papa-her grandpa booze-her dog oscar-her dog-that is hard to understand though-we only know because she is looking at Oscar when she says it uh oh bye bye at times, thank you She also tries to "sing" with her Veggie Tales tape and DVDs... She also "howls" when the dogs are howling when DH plays the harmonica

Re: Your 17months old (or about) and you say......
At 17mos dd could say:
yum baby book duck please hi bye tootsie night-night mama dada thank you piggy num-num bee kitty uh oh blue eye beep beep tickle tickle yay no go there ya go what is it Barney yes out up elmo boobah more At 18mos we added: me mine down nose ear hair belly cookie eat banana I see you mouth Now at 20 1/2 mos she says about 75-100 words & I just stopped writing them down! It seems like she has a new word everyday. She is also trying to say her ABC's and can count to 3.

Re: Your 17months old (or about) and you say......
Dd is 22 months now, and putting words together. But at the end of June, at about 17 months, she said a grand total of one word I think: "daddy" or maybe it was still "dada" at that time. I'm still "nonny" and not "mommy" though, and dd also calls other adults that she is sees frequently "nonny" or "daddy". At around 17 months she started understanding when we spoke to her. Some time during the summer she went from saying nothing to speaking in sentences. She did qualify for early intervention, but dd hated the special educator they sent so we quit since she had caught up on her own. If she hadn't caught up, I would have pushed for a speech therapist but I don't know if we could have gotten one through early intervention.
