Well, so what I thought was a UTI turns out to be BV (I got an IUD shortly beforehand). I was treated with Metrogel and ds is having HORRIBLE intestinal problems because of it. Long story short, it's back and I don't want to use Metrogel again for fear of harming DS again and I don't want to have to stop bf'ing in order to treat. Anyone know of anything homeopathic that will help cure this (and the discomfort from it) that I can use while nursing? Any advice would be great since the apothecary is open tomorrow.

I'm not certain, but supposedly I had this when my dd was a month old. Was given metrogel too but never took it, went back a week later to another doctor, it mysteriously dissappeared. Hmmm....makes ya wonder sometimes...

They gave me Diflucan and that helped out alot metro gel never worked for me either!

not sure if you can get this ... but, Melaleuca sells a douche that has a tiny amoutn of tea tree oil in it ... if you can get it, that's what I used to help with my yeast infection.... if not, then I'd just do a douche with water and a few drops of tea tree and see how that helps.

I second the diflucan, only because it is to prevent and rid bacterial infections, danae is on this med for the prevention of BI form her broviac.
ask your dr about it and since its safe for babies, im sure its safe for a bf mama. goodluck

So diflucan can be used to treat a NON-yeast infection. My insurance is riduculous and wouldn't cover it for a yeast infection after antibiotics for a c/s, so if it can be used, I'll have to check to see if they will cover it for BV.

Thanks for all the good info mamas and keep it coming if there are more things I can do...
