Re: How do you not waste formula?

All good to know... for our next child... because I was pretty strict with the one hour rule and not reusing. I tossed out a lot of formula, esp. at the beginning because I had a slow & slim eater. I always hated the waste too!

Re: How do you not waste formula?

Wow this is really helpful/interesting... we've been pitching bottles after ds drinks out of it if it's been an hr. I've wondered if 2 hrs was ok since that's how long we left them out after starting a feeding when I worked in daycare... but that's been over 10 yrs.
Anyone disagree with this??

Re: How do you not waste formula?

We have always thrown it away after 2 hrs and I never refridge or reheat after its touched their mouths. I too am a worrier. I used to not switch formulas either though bc I always heard it was a big no no and now the brand we buy of formula is depending on where we are.

Re: How do you not waste formula?

I'm so glad I read this post! We've been pumping and feeding EBM but are getting to the point where we are going to have to give some formula as well. I had asked another group I'm in how they made their bottles (whether they mixed formula/breast milk or did strictly breast milk bottles & formula bottles).. and I got the advice that they didn't mix it since the formula would have to be tossed. I never tossed my EBM after feedings if it wasn't eaten, but would only offer it once more. Sounds like we can do the same if it is mixed as well! Thanks ladies!
