Re: does anyone really store their diapers and inserts separately?

I do two separate pails. Mostly because I am using fleece lined pockets and it seemed to keep the fleece much softer and less pilly if I washed them separately from the inserts. I did wash some with inserts a few times and it did seem to rough up the fleece on me a bit (especially with dipes like Fuzzi Bunz). I think the difference might not be enough for a lot of people to use separate pails. But I'm a bit of a fleece snob and like mine in the best shape I can keep it.

Mine all go into the wetbag together, and get washed together. Too lazy to bother with anything more complicated.

Re: does anyone really store their diapers and inserts separately?

LOL....I have never heard of separating...the closest I get to separating is:

-when I take the dipe & cover off, I "separate" the 2 by taking the PF/flat out & unfolding it, or the fitted out & closing the laundry tabs, or unsnapping the insert, from snapin covers, etc... I dont bother emptying BM poo-I think it would be impossible anyway, & I dont rinse the dipes either.

Then I take the dipe, cover, and any extra liner & throw them all into a small round laundry basket, when the basket gets full, I wash them...

I have 2 in diapers, & our basket usually fills up every other day...

If there are any type of stains, they always have come out by sunning them.

I typically change thier covers with each diaper change too. I throw them in the same load as the diapers, etc, and then hang them to dry with the diapers, etc.

The closest I get to separating is that the covers get washed with regular laundry because I use simple green and its hard on elastic. I even wash our sposie wipes with the diapers and then separate them later!

Everything goes in one pail. I do try to keep covers on top, so they don't soak up the stink.
