What do I do?

My son was put on Prednisone for his lungs because his heart was having to work too hard ( he has a heart condition). A side effect of the prednisone is excessive hunger.. He's 4 months old today and all day today he has pretty much been at the breast or rooting. Once he gets latched on he sucks vigorously and then unlatches and cries because he's not getting enough or not getting it fast enough. I don't know what to do for him. He won't really stay latched on because he's not getting enough/anything? And nothing is calming him down anymore.. I'm stressing out and i'm sure he's feeling it too.. Anyone been through something like this?

Can you call your local LLL leader - they're certain to have some suggestions for you...

Well if you continue having him try to nurse even when hes not getting much your supply will catch up and there shouldnt be a problem. Have you tried mothers milk tea to try to up your supply?

Good luck mama! Hang in there!

I would keep nursing like crazy to help your supply and maybe consider a supplemental nursing system. A LLL leader should be able to help you with that. But just keep nursing and drinking lots of fluids
