Continuum Concept - can you share a review?

If you read this, did you love it, hate it, both? Did it have an impact on your parenting style?

Thanks

Cathy

Re: Continuum Cocept - can you share a review?

I loved it when I read it, but that was quite some time ago! Either while I was pregnant with my second child (who will be 14 this month) or while he was an infant. It did not change my style of parenting, it reinforced what I was already doing/believed. Maybe I should have a read again & see what I think, now that I am 3 more children into my mothering career! LOL

Thumbs up Re: Continuum Concept - can you share a review?

I loved it. I thought it offered so much insight as to why we do what we do as adults. I think you must approach it with a very open and unselfish mind, imo, you will find much of what she says is true, as you are proof. It did not change my style of parenting because I am very sensitive to my children. I however did wear my daughter in her sling for the first 12 weeks of her life, at least 4-5 hours a day, the other time I held her and nursed her so she was in arms more than my other two (though I did where them quite a bit also)
She really just made me realize why I feel good about being a mom the way that I am. Not like I needed to explain it to people who are like "what you....??" "Well why do you do that?" "Well isn't it more work that way?" "Why would you want all that pain?" blah blah blah...so all in all, I think everyone should read it children or not. I also think that if you don't find some truth in yourself in what she writes, you are literally not with yourself Read it, love it, how can you not!?

I read about the concept but haven't actually read the book so I won't vote.
Although I do tend to lean more on the side of AP, I completely disagree w/ the theology behind her concepts. As a mother, I know my child and respond to that and wish more parents would "pay attention" to their children. But as a Christian I disagree w/ why she promotes AP/physical bonding. KWIM?
