I think at that age its not such a big deal to give them water. If its hot out they probably need more water or BM. DD will sometimes not BF much in a day if she is eating a lot of solids, so on those days I try to make sure she is having more water. If their stool looks really hard they need more liquid, be it BM or water. If is nice and soft, then you have nothing to worry about. The diaper will tell you everything you need to know

Well, shes getting her liquids from BM but if shes interested then offer her some water. My 6mth old (wow...that sounds weird. he just turned 6mths today) LOVES cold water. I offer him 2oz at a time.

Baby doesn't NEED water period. Breastmilk is all baby needs until the age of one. But, I have been told no more than 4-6 ounces a day for the first year after 6 months because it can mess with their kidneys.
