My baby hates jar food-time to make my own?

I am trying really really hard to get my 6 month old to like baby food, he seems pretty hungry and is nursing every 2 hours. We started out with cereal at 5 months and he was ok with it. He ate about 2-3 tbs at a time. Now he won't have it, or any other type of jarred food. He's gagging on just about anything except fruit. I know he can swallow well cause he's can just eat up some smashed avacado and potatoes with no problems.
I am thinking that it's the jarred stuff he won't touch, so I should just make my own. I did this with my other 2 babies, but only simple stuff like baked apples, peaches, pears in addition to thier jarred food. I'd like to try some different recipes now, I'm just not sure where to start. Can you please share your recipes and/or sources so I can get started and get my little guy eating solids? TIA

Honestly, with pretty much all the fruits & vegetables all you have to do is cook them in a little bit of water until they are soft & then blend it up. Dd2 was like this, se wouldn't eat anything that came out of a jar, she only wanted stuff that was made fresh.

my DS does not like baby food either. he is 9 1/2 MO and is still almost EBF. when he was smaller like your LO i just had him EBF and now that he is a bit bigger i can give him little bits of what we are having and he loves it! still refuses baby food but loves any of our stuff he can have. food is just for practice in the first year anyway so dont sweat it!

If you find you just don't feel like making your own this time, you may want to try Happy Baby Food. I use it. It's steamed, pureed, and then frozen. My baby likes it, and it tastes really fresh.

Dig around the Happy Baby web site. There should be a "box" on there somewhere so you can type in your zip code, or something to see where it's sold in your area. When I found the "box" it was on the upper right hand corner of the screen, but I can't remember exactly what page I was on when I noticed it.

I have found it at Whole Foods and another natural foods store in my city. Your Whole Foods might carry it, too, but if you don't have one of those stores near you, the web site should help you find something.

Good luck!

Try "super baby food" by Ruth Yaron. There is a website too somewhere. I did some recipes out of that for ds when he was little and kind of made up my own with brown rice, different veggies and some chicken. I just ground it up fine in a food processor and then coarser as he grew older.

Re: My baby hates jar food-time to make my own?

Thanks girls, I'll have to see what kind of recipes I can find. So far he's had a baked sweet and reg. potatoes. He liked that. Then I tried to sneak in some peas inside the potatoe and he didn't care for that at all.
My pedi. suggested that if he didn't care for the foods to just feed him finger foods at abour 9 months so that he can feed himself. That's good, but he's hungry now! So I'll be trying out some recipes. thanks again.
