Swollen Bug Bites...Should I take Nikolas to the DR? Pics ADDED.

What concerns me is the small bite mark surrounded by the swelling. My daughter has had reactions to mosquito bite so badly that her eyes swelled shut (when bit on the face at the pool). She welts badly anytime she is bitten by a mosquito however I've NEVER seen the red mark in the middle surrounded by the swelling. If it happens again or if its still not healed I think I would take him to the doctor and have it looked at.

The pus is what would send me to the ped with him. Specially if it's a spider bite.

They look much better today. They have been decreasing in swelling all day long so I did not take him in. (I watched him very closely.)

These are his first bites (other than a few bed bug bites ) that he has gotten so I do not know what his "normal" reaction is. I will be sure to watch carefully if he gets bit again.

I also will be sure to find some good repellent if we are going to be outside at all.

We got some BM today from my SIL and I applied that to them (can never underestimate the power of liquid gold ). I will continue to watch them and be sure that they are healing.

Oh and Autumn, I will get some Apis. You should PM me with a list of all of your tricks. You always have great suggestions for me.

BM & Apis and Tea Tree Oil are my first 3 lines of defense with things like that. TTO is kind of strong, so for a little one you can mix it with some olive oil and then dab it on or put it on the cotton part of a band aid and put it on. My friend called me the other day really worried about her son's bites and she got some TTO and put it on and the next day they were all but gone!

Did you google tick bites? Im not sure if ticks can just bite without latching on but the bulls eye bite on his arm looks like a tick bite! I would call the pedi and at least ask them.

I just googled and apparently you can get this type of bulls eye rash from other bugs

maybe there is some sort of super mosquito this year.

dd1 has been getting bites that react that exact same way with the red ring around them this summer. she has never reacted so strongly to bug bites before. i had dh take her to the ped and they said they had no idea what it was, which left me more than a little concerned until i started getting the same reaction and i'm sure mine were mosquito bites because i saw the f'ers biting me (they always seem to come at me while i'm nursing and don't have a free swatting hand ).
