Re: Attatchment Parenting??

Attachment parenting is allowing a child to become as attached to their parents as they want/need to, in order to help them become more secure and independent later on. It usually involves extended breastfeeding, co-sleeping (in some form) and baby wearing, among other things

From looking at your siggy, I think I could assume that you are already doing so. It is basically nurturing and caring for your child instinctively. Taking a gentle approach on discipline, baby wearing, co sleeping, BFing, etc. I hope this helps!!

Don't worry, I didn't know I was AP until I joined my Jan 2008 birth board on Babycenter and heard about it. Turns out, that's the parenting style I never knew I had. Didn't know it had a label.

I believe Dr. Sears coined the term. His book "Attachment Parenting" is a great resource and it will just affirm what you obviously already know. I like it because it gives medical and scientific backing to the choices you're making, which are great to have when naysayers come at you about your choices!

I <3 Dr Sears! His website is so informative and I always go to it when I question many things, even after 4 kids.

I think it says a lot about AP that you were doing many aspects of it instinctivly and you didn't even know that there was a specific term for it!

Re: Attatchment Parenting??

Here's the attachment parenting international page. This has a lot of info on here as well as links to local groups. My local group is really active, has meetings and fun group events as well as a local forum. It's neat to be around other people who parent the same way that you do.
