Had a family reunion Saturday on DH's side. Got treated to an elderly aunt of DH's telling me that I hold DD too much and I'm spoiling her. (Because apparently DD should have felt comfortable meeting a bunch of strangers and not needed any reassurance from Mommy.)
Today I suddenly connected the dots...this same lady has a 50-something daughter, and they constantly have these little battles where they stop talking to each other completely for awhile. LOL! Hmmm, I'm hoping I can build a little bit better relationship with my own daughter. Just a little reminder that it pays to consider the source!

Re: You hold that baby too much! She's spoiled!
Oh my goodnes that is annoying when people say that. I love my inlaws, but if I hear "you're spoiling her" one more time, lol. She is only a month old and if I rush right to her, they make that comment. I don't hold her that much because I can't all the time taking care of my 2-year-old as well, so of course I'm going to hold her when I can!
That's a good observation you made about her relationship with her daughter.

I hate that as well.
Thankfully, I don't get any of that from our families. Just from strangers who don't think I should be BWing . Just ignore them...You know best.

I love the stroller comment. Like an expensive, space consuming device that keeps you from seeing or touching your child while in motion, and makes it difficult to pass somebody else on a sidewalk or in a store aisle is the greatest invention ever.

Re: You hold that baby too much! She's spoiled!
I've never gotten the hang of the BWing thing much for more than occasional uses, so we do use the stroller for transportation sometimes.
But she's usually just up and down in my arms -- I call her my little monkey because she's so good at hanging on. Then when she gets a hand clutched in my hair (that's her comfort object!) it really completes the monkey impression. I love it! She's my last baby, and I know she won't be doing this forever! Why on earth would I want to create some artificial distance between us? |
