New to this forum...have questions...
Hi mamas! I have a little girl that's almost 4 months now...I have the Galaxy Flex-Lock Baby Trend infant car seat for her right now...I plan on getting her a Britax seat when she outgrows this one...I have a 4 door Ford Fusion...is there a britax model that can easily fit rear facing in a fusion? Is there one model of Britax that is safer than other models, or are they all about the same in safety? I want to do rear facing for as long as possible since it's so much safer, but am worried that it won't fit well in my car since the seat i have now is a tight fit, and I really want a britax since I've heard SUCH great things about them! I know that some of their seats are bigger than others, but if one of the bigger ones is safest, I'll just have to find a way to make it work. Also, is it safer to leave her in her infant seat until she reaches a year or outgrows the weight limit,or is it safer to have her in a convertible britax now? She's only 13 lbs now, so she's got a ways to go before she outgrows the seat we have now since it holds up to 22 lbs. If it's better to just leave her in her infant seat for now, what do you think I should do if she is over a year, and still 22 lbs or under, should I switch her to the Britax just because of her age, or leave her in her infant seat until she meets the weight cutoff? Also, I have her in the middle of the back seat now, can I still do that with a Britax? I'm paranoid about having her seat so close to the doors in case of a side impact crash...Any other tips/suggestions are appreciated as I'm new to mommyhood and all that comes with it.

The roundabout is the smallest britax but it only goes up to 40lbs ff. It should fit rf in your car. I am not sure how long you can keep her rf in the roundabout. I personally love my marathon but I also have a van. All car seats are safe if use correctly and not one more than others, but the do have different accessories and designs to fit different personalities.

Re: New to this forum...have questions...
How tall are you? That's what's going to make the difference. I'm 5'3, and could fit a Boulevard rearfacing easily in my Ford hatchback. Just look for a seat that can go in at both the 30* and the 45* angles in rf, so you have more leeway.
Here's a video installing a Marathon RF so you can see what it looks like and how much room there needs to be. Britax also allows their seats to touch the front seats, so you don't need to worry about that.

I'm 5'3", too, but DH drives the car often and is 6 ft. Thanks for the video! I'll take a look now.

Re: New to this forum...have questions...
I am 5'9" tall and can fit a rearfacing Marathon at a 45degree angle in my Escape, which has a smaller backseat than the Fusion.
You can move her anytime you feel like it. Most babies will not make it to a year in the Flex Loc. It's usually outgrown by height first. They have outgrown it when there is less than 1" of plastic above the head. I personally prefer the Marathon. It will last so much longer than the Roundabout.
