Re: Changing names
We are changing her name. Keeping her birth name as her middle name, and chose a first name that sort of fits with the nickname we'd been using, and are gradually transitioning to the chosen first name. She turned 1 yesterday.

Re: Changing names
We will be changing our daughter's name but we may keep her first name as the middle. I heard in Korea that the babies are often named by a social worker, not the birth mother. She'll be home around 9 months old and I'm naming her after my Grandmother.
Heather, I'm so excited to hear that you are adopting your daughter!

Re: Changing names
We changed our daughters middle name when her adoption was finalized. She was 7 years old. We explained to her the meaning and why it was important to us. She was fine with it and honestly I'm not sure if she would recall having another name now. (she's 11)

Re: Changing names
Everyone seems to be talking about domestic adoption (or maybe I am reading the wrong way). What everyone is saying...does this apply to international adoptions?
(sorry if I am slightly hijacking but I wanted to know if the things said apply to international names and if people would change them also)
