Re: Second adoption - Ethiopia or domestic?

We're adopting from Ethiopia right now. So far it's been an amazing experience. Like all adoption, it's not for the faint of heart but I wouldn't trade this for the world. We've been on the waitlist for 10 weeks so should be getting a referral in the next 8-10 weeks.

Re: Second adoption - Ethiopia or domestic?

My daughter, Makena, is adopted from Ethiopia. We had a fabulous experience. We also just had a little boy, biologically, but are hoping to add to our family again through adoption. We are weighing the pros and cons of Ethiopia again vs. AA infant adoption. Makena was 5 months old when we brought her home!

I don't know anything about trying to adopt domestically but I do know that you are %100 right that white and American are not mutually inclusive. Good point.

Re: Second adoption - Ethiopia or domestic?

Some very dear friends of ours is actually waiting to get their son from Ethiopia as we speak. He will be their second child, and they just found out they are pregnant again! Our friends have had nothing but wonderful things to say about their research of the agency they are using. One interesting thing to know about Ethiopian courts is that they close down during the month of August, so no adoptions take place since there are no courts open. Our friends are hoping that their paperwork comes in before the end of the month, otherwise they may have to wait until Sept. or Oct. to get their son. Whichever adoption choice you make, it will be the best for your family--you are giving love to a child who needs it, and that is always a great gift.

We are in the process of adopting from Ethiopia. We have already received a referral for a baby girl after only waiting 3 months. We were originally logged in to adopt from China but things slooooowed way down. We should travel in November after court case. Ethiopia's program seems real stream lined but research your agency's, as wait times differ with every one. Good luck
