Relactation? Is it possible??

Wow I could written this myself! My DD too was a born BFer and at 2 weeks old her newborn screening came back abnormal for a protein deficiency. I was told that I would most likely have to quit BFing her but I refused unless they could guarantee me it would do harm. At 3 weeks my supply took a HUGE hit due to the stress and a cold I had come down with. It's been downhill since. DD is notw 7 months (tomorrow) and Im making about an ounce per day and want to get to 100% mama milk if I can. You CAN do this!!! Im on fenugreek,blessed thistle,oatmeal,water and domperidone religiously.

How long have you been at this protocol? I'm on day 18.

Ive been on it about a month but have had a couple fall outs. Just this past week I came down with a horrible cold and now today AF is showing her ugly face so my supply is taking another hit. I find that I only get letdown when Ive been on them solid for a good 2 weeks, DD gulps happily then too instead of just sucking herself to sleep and then being starving again in 20 mins. It's nice to know Im not the only one out there trying to do this.

I am just starting all of this, researching still, bought a PIS yesterday... Where did you get domperidone? I have read that its not approved in the US? Also, is a manual pump supposed to feel stronger (read: hurt more) than an electric pump?

I have relactated took LOTs of pumping, trying, time, calls to LLL and LCs.. but it worked for awhile.
I would look at LLLI.org for their relactation forum and Kellymom.com for their list of herbs for relactation. Also contact a LLL leader and a LC- sometimes an LC can help you find Reglan or domperidone to help as well.

for above poster: you can get domperidone from a reliable website or sometimes a LC. no its not FDA approved. It does work though- you can ger Reglan too (does same thing) but it can cause depression so if you have a history- dont take it.
and yes a manual pump will feel different than electric but NO pump should ever hurt- the suction/flange is too hard/small.
