Teething = nursing strike?

Help me out please. The last couple days Simon has been very difficult to feed. He will nurse for only a few minutes then start whimpering and pull off and cry. If I relatch him , he will take a few sucks then start crying again. It's stressing me out and I'm not sure what is going on. He does have two obvious tooth bumps on the bottom. Would teething cause a nursing strike/refusal? What else could it be? And should I pump in the meantime?

Re: Teething = nursing strike?

I'm having some trouble too - and I'm nursing #3, so I feel like it shouldn't be this difficult this time around. I think for me, my milk supply is a little low and I think teething is part of her problem too - along with the fact that we have two older siblings that dd is getting distracted very easily - there's just way too much fun stuff to do for her to stop and nurse.

My guess is it is DEFINATELY pain from teething. Try giving him some teething tablets b4 you nurse him or some tylenol. I dont like giving too much tylenol so I would do the teething tablets first and see if that helps. I would also pump to keep your supply up and supplement with that but try the breast FIRST!!!

DONT sell me ANYTHING!!!

We went through this at 4-5 months. She would fuss so much every time I tried to nurse her. Going from breast to breast. She got 4 teeth in that month and it sucked
